Tandem has no accounts, no server of its own and no analytics. This page explains what the app touches on your iPhone, what moves between your phone and your partner's, and what we never see. It is short because there is not much to say.
Tandem shields apps using Apple's Screen Time framework. When you pick distractions, Apple's own picker gives Tandem opaque tokens for your choices. Tandem does not receive the names of the apps or websites, cannot read your Screen Time usage data, and stores the tokens only on your phone. Locks are enforced by iOS, not by us.
Used only to read the pairing code on your partner's screen. No photos or video are captured or stored. You can pair without the camera by pasting the code your partner shares.
Tandem sends local notifications when a lock ends and when your partner asks to be released or releases you. Notification content is generated on your phone.
Pairing and release requests move between the two phones through Apple's iCloud (CloudKit), inside your own Apple account. What travels: the pairing key, the display name you chose, release requests with their optional reason, and replies. These records are readable only by the two paired phones. We have no access to your iCloud data and no server that receives a copy.
Your distraction selection, lock history, settings, theme and the name you chose are stored only on your device, protected by iOS. Deleting the app deletes them. History is never synced, even to your partner.
The name you chose during setup, whether you are currently locked and until when, and any release request you send, including the reason you typed. Your partner never sees which apps you locked or your history. Unpairing removes the key from both phones.
No identifiers, no location, no contacts, no usage analytics, no crash reports beyond what you choose to share with Apple in iOS Settings. We do not sell, share or process personal data because we do not have any.
Tandem is rated 4+ on the App Store and collects no personal data from anyone, including children.
If a future version of Tandem changes what it touches, this page changes first and the effective date above moves. Nothing here changes silently.
